I once prayed to God for a bike, but quickly found out he didnt work that way...so I stole a bike and prayed for his forgiveness...

JUST KIDDING! No bikes were stolen in the typing of this post. BUT I am going to look at a race bike tomorrow! I have sold my trail bike and am in the process of possessing my very first race bike. A 2003 RM 125 is what I am after. Suzuki is the way to go if you ask me. Mainly because most of my favourite riders ride for Suzuki; Ryan Dungey, Travis Pastrana, Ricky Carmichael, Sherri Cruse, Jolene Van Vugt...plus they're yellow:) Jumping from a CRF150F four stroke little trail bike to an RM125 two stroke race bike worries me a little bit. I have a feeling that I'm going to be driving my noggin into the dirt quite often at first. But anyone who jumps on a dirt bike is just asking for trouble. That's the name of the game. And, on some level, I'm alright with that. Although it scares the bejesus out of my Mother. But I've also watched enough Travis Pastrana videos to understand that NO one can push themselves as hard on a bike as he can and live, or at least function enough, to do it again. (Well, maybe it's not so much that he pushes himself, but more the fact that he is accident prone and indestructible (or so it seems)...go figure).

Let's be honest here, the guy is nuts. And nuts are what he's got. He's my hero. How habitual of me. Who do you know that hasn't said "Travis Pastrana is my hero!"? I don't usually like to put myself in the same pigeonhole as most people, but here it's necessary. The man's got it made. The ultimate longevity. Fans, Fame and Fun. But what I admire most about him, he's conventional. Down-to-earth and an all around nice guy. He works hard for what he has and once he reaches his goal, set or not, he works even harder for the next one. A characteristic that everyone should practice. And in the midst of all his hard work, he has fun, and usually busts something doing it. I've read his book and I own all the Nitro Circus movies and 199 Lives. Call me obsessed, but they're inspirational. Well, the book and 199 Lives are anyways. To call Nitro inspirational would be an over statement haha. It's more entertaining than anything.

The other thing that amazes me about TP is after everything he's been through, illnesses, injuries, and his life-changing car crash in '03 to name a few, he still comes through on top...every time. That is truly the definition of a Hero.

Hot chocolate and blue bath water

What's better on a cold winter night than a hot bath with Lush bubble bath that turns your water blue, a cup of hot chocolate and book in hand? Zilch. The ending to my day. I now sit in bed, once again with my laptop on my lap (how obvious), and watching a VHS...that's right, Video Home System, 90's style. Tonight it's It Takes Two. Takin' it back to my child hood. I grew up watching Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen on Full House. I read their books and watched their movies. If you grew up in the 90's I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. You're Invited to's and The Adventures of's. I watched them grow up, along with the rest of America. And I continue to admire them. Not for their acting skills mind you...I mean let's be honest...they've been acting their entire lives, and are they really that talented? Indubitably no. But their fashion sense is exquisit.

In Ashley's closet:

Fendi Platform Peeptoe

The Row Weatherby Dress
(Sophistacted and trendy. The classic little black dress)

In Mary-Kate's closet:

The Row Motorcyle Pants

(Like leggins, but more structured)

Alexander Wang
(Simple...just the way I like it)

The end to another day of my mundane life. At least I can make it sound interesting. I'm bed bound.

...And the red glow at the rim of the world faded into pink.

10 o'clock. I'm in my bed entering my last passage for December 2nd 2009 and watching Tuck Everlasting. Quite the multi-task if you ask me. Tuck Everlasting. Another cheesy Disney move that I can't help but love. Alexa Bledel as Winnifred Foster in a lacy white gown and a crown of daisies, meets a romantic boy who she embarks on a journey with that any girl would die for. A beautiful fairy tale in its own kind. What I wouldn't give to live one day in the 1800's wearing a long sleeved turtle neck, lacy white dress and my long hair in braids and curls tied with ribbons. Just for a day.

Another 1800's materiality that everyone should indulge in is the classic novel Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. I have only just started it myself and have already been captured by the creative and elegant words of the Pulitzer prize winner. Scarlett O'Hara is a character I can relate to...well, so far. She's not particularly beautiful, but makes up for the loss in wit and strength of will. She is not afraid to speak her mind and knows how to protect herself, yet she is classy and holds her self as a lady in an appropriate manner. Her weakness?...Ashley Wilkes. Of course, the most delightful gentleman in the County of Clayton, Georgia. With golden hair and a tall frame, he was the best rider of all the men in North Georgia, who Ashley differed from immensely. Mitchell writes, "For Ashley was born of a line of men who used their leisure for thinking, not doing, for spinning brightly colored dreams that had in them no touch of reality."

As I read more I will continue to write about it. And with that, I will spin my own brightly colored dreams with my head against my pillow...Good Night.

First ever blog post!

I'm not exactly sure how to start this, so I'm just going to type whatever pops into my head. I'm new at this whole blogging thing. It seems like a good idea. A way to share your thoughts, perpetualize (is that a word?) what's important to your being, and reflect on your past contemplations. The Y2K diary, if you will. On a more privy note, my name is Hayley. I live on the west coast of Canada and I'm a new born Motocross rider...Hence, Dirt.Diva., although I wouldn't exactly classify myself as a diva, but it makes for a good alliteration. I was a BMX racer for ten years. Contrary to popular belief, BMX and Motocross are alike in only 2 ways...a bike and a track. The way the races are run are unmistakably different, the bikes that are ridden are far from similar, and the tracks definitely differ in size. There are more discrepancies between the sports, but I'll get to that later.

More about moi. I'm 19, soon to be 20 and no longer a teenager. I have a younger brother who rides dirt bikes with me and also practices Mixed Martial Arts. He's in the 11th grade. I live with him and my mom in the inner city in a white house surrounded by crazies and attention grabbers. I work at the local motorcycle shop full time in hopes of awakening my dreams of racing motocross whenever and wherever and at whatever level I can into reality. It seems that lately I have a one track mind...Motocross. I see more in my favourite pro riders than smooth style and an innate need for speed. I see the determination and dedication. The hard work they put into every ride, on and off the track. And their attitudes are, for the most part, nothing less than spectacular in any circumstance. A will to push until the end. Anyone who has studied the actions of a motocross racer will agree with me that Motocross racers are among the most disciplined athletes of our day.

This has been kind of a scattered post, but as I said before, I was just going to type whatever came to my mind. At least it gives me something to start with. And thus, my Blog.
